William C. Hunter, 85, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Onondaga Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. William was born in Syracuse, New York on January 21, 1935. He was a graduate of North High School class of 1953. William, an avid Yankee fan, also loved swimming, walks at Green Lakes, reading, bowling, and playing softball. He was a 40 year civilian employee specializing in communications for the U.S Army (NETSC), and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
William was predeceased by his mother, Irene Karlik Hunter, his sister, Irene Hunter and brother-in-law, Robert “Gus” Geremski.
William is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol (Geremski) Hunter; his sons, Mark (Shannon) Hunter and Michael Hunter; his daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Avery; four grandchildren, Emily Hunter, Mikayla Avery, Erin Hunter and Colin Avery; his niece, Lynn Gilbert and his nephew, Rob Geremski.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 11 a.m. at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home with Rev. Severine Yagaza officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse.
