Sharon Vickery Salerno, 78 of East Syracuse, New York passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Sharon was the daughter of the late Arlene and Charles (Ted) Vickery of Fayetteville, New York. She was born and raised in Fayetteville and graduated from FM High School. Sharon attended Syracuse University in 1961 where she majored in Art and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and proudly cheered on the Orangemen as an SU Cheerleader.
Sharon married Blaise A. Salerno and the couple had five children. Sharon was the Collegiate Buyer at Syracuse University Bookstore for over 20 years and later returned to SU as a student at where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Interior Design at age 55! She then followed her passion as a designer for Ethan Allen in Dewitt before retiring.
Sharon is survived by her five children, Shawn Salerno (Lara), Lisa Salerno Roese (Arnie), Amy Salerno Drury (Martin), Kim Salerno Brown (Chris) and Kristie Salerno Kent (Michael); She is also survived by her sister, Joy Vickery (Dean) Walters; three brothers, Richard (Andrea) Amodeo-Vickery, Terry (Debbie) Vickery and Kelly (Donna) Vickery; Sharon was blessed with seven grandchildren, McKenzie and Nathan Roese, Tianna Salerno, Grace and Jack Drury and Kingston and Giabella Kent.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5-7pm at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 11,2021 9:00 am in Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church, East Syracuse where Sharon was a faithful parishioner for move than 50 years. Immediately following the funeral our beloved mother, Sharon will be laid to eternal rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fayetteville.
