Obituary

Sharlene J. Wallis “Shar” passed away on January 7, 2022. Born in 1946 to Donald M. Benack Sr. and Jane (Smiley) Greiner, Sharlene resided in Syracuse and remained close to family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, E. Martin Wallis; her parents; and her brother, Donald M. Benack Jr. Sharlene is survived by her children, Jayne Richards (Steven), Martin Wallis (Sheila) and Matt Wallis (Mary). She was extremely proud of her five grandchildren and their accomplishments, Martin, Tyler, Sharlene, Lindsey and Elyssa. She was the oldest of her surviving siblings, Marie Wuethrich (Dan), Bea F. Hayes (Richard), John E. Greiner (Kathy), Ted A. Greiner (Jennifer) and James R. Greiner. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sharlene enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and band competitions. Her hobbies and activities included reading, coloring, crocheting beautiful blankets, playing games like Words with Friends, Bubble Witch, and “texting”. All who knew her, knew, Sharlene was a loyal New York Yankees fan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 12, from 4-7 pm at the Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse, New York. A service for both Shar and her husband Marty will follow at 7 pm.
