Rudolph Robert “Rudy” Friedberg, 90, formerly of Kirkville, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Onondaga Center in Minoa.
Born July 16, 1931 in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Charles Friedberg and Mabel Stafford Friedberg Schlieter. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1993 from the railroad after 43 years of working as a brakeman and conductor for NY Central, Amtrak and Conrail and also remained an active member in the UTU. He was very active with the North Manlius United Church, especially working the annual fund raising suppers.
Rudy was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing cards, attended bingo faithfully, travelled as often as he could and loved camping with his family.
He is survived by six children, Colleen (Steve) Brown, Rudy (Anna) Friedberg, Jr., Jeff (Sandy) Friedberg, Patty (Greg) Troncosa, Penny (Jack) Gross Jr. and Judy (David) Hess; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine; great grandson, Cooper; and three sisters and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 4 p.m. at the North Manlius United Church, 7815 Adams Road, Kirkville. Visiting time will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church before the service. A private burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Manlius.
