Robetta J. Featherly, 107, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Monday January 20, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. Born on October 25, 1912, she lived on Molloy Road for 100+ years. She retired from Terrell’s Potato Chip Company in Syracuse in 1977 enjoying 42 years of retirement. In the early years of marriage, Robetta and her husband, Harlow D. “Kys” of 69 years, worked hard in farming their land which continued throughout their lives together. They also played hard, square dancing at the Syracuse YMCA and camping with the National Campers and Hikers Association’s Hiawatha Chapter. Robetta “Slim” and Kys enjoyed many years of travel with their camping friends. Robetta attended the DeWitt Senior Center and also the Silver Fox Senior Social Club of Baldwinsville in her Centenarian years. In these later years, her wonderful aid Linda was by her side. Connections, being connected to the land through camping and farming as well as staying active and socially connected had been the key to the long and happy lives lived.
Robetta was predeceased by her husband, Harlow D. Featherly, Sr. in 2002 and her son Harlow D. “Butch” Featherly, II in 2005.
She is survived by her daughter in-law, Carin Featherly; her four grandchildren, Michelle Dobson, Sybil (John) Gouchie, Celeste (Richard) Willey and Harlow “Duane” (Shannon) Featherly, III; great-grandchildren, Dalton Dobson, Ben & Jill Gouchie and Kyle & Brook Willey; also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, who knew her as “Aunt Bunk”
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 23, 2020 12:30 p.m. at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Collamer Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse, prior to services.
