Robert Bruce Damon, 76, of East Syracuse, peacefully passed away on June 7, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was surrounded by family in his final moments which was his last wish.
Bob was born on April 20, 1945 in Syracuse, the son of Edna Henry Damon and Frederick Hollis Damon. He graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1963. While attending Purdue University, Bob was drafted into the army. After returning to Syracuse, he pursued his degree while establishing a career in sales and subsequently financial planning. He retired in January 2020 from United Financial Services where he was Vice President.
Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, being at his camp on Lake Ontario, and spending time outside. He was an avid reader and had a wicked sense of humor, yet he was the guy who bought a snowblower and did all the neighbors’ driveways – a just, loving man who truly cared about people and his family. He went the distance for everyone.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia (LaCasse) Damon; two children, Matthew Damon of East Syracuse and Stephanie (Rocco) Luiere of Eugene, Oregon; four grandsons, Cameron and Ian Luiere, River Greenfield, and Ravyn Damon; sister, Joanna Damon of Harpswell, Maine; and several cousins.
Bob was a long-time member of the First United Church of East Syracuse. He always said that he couldn’t wait to know what comes next. A commemoration will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bob’s name to the charity of your choice.
