Richard R. Hanover

Richard R. Hanover, 67, of Liverpool, passed away Sunday August 2, 2020 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. He graduated from East Syracuse Minoa High School, and served in the Air Force as a military police officer stationed in England. Mr. Hanover was a volunteer fire fighter and was involved with Veterans Affairs, as a member of the VFW. He worked in the construction industry as well as hospitality and the transportation industry. He was a kind sole to all that knew him and would go out of his way to help people. Those who knew him enjoyed his awesome sense of humor and great personality. He enjoyed golf, fishing, skiing, poker, music, trivia, history and horse racing. He enjoyed baseball, was a huge Yankee fan and also followed Syracuse University sports.
Mr. Hanover is survived by his brothers, George, Tim (Kim) and Steve Hanover; a sister, Theresa (Brian) Gratien; He enjoyed spending time with his numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. A calling hour will be held at the church prior to the funeral mass from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 229 W. Yates Street, East Syracuse. Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
