Richard Duane Bertrand of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at the Syracuse Veterans Affairs Hospital on Friday, December 4th 2020. Richard (Dick) was born in East Syracuse, New York, on May 8, 1939, where he lived most of his life except for when he was in the US Air Force. He graduated from East Syracuse HS and in later years received an Associates Degree from CCBI. He met his wife Therese (Terry) during his USAF tenure in Dayton, OH. Dick and Terry just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past August. Dick was a member of the Carpenters Union; and worked in the Auto sales industry for many years, until retirement. During his long retirement he continued his passion for golf by working part time at Erie Links and playing in several golf leagues until recently.
Dick is survived by his wife,Terry; his children, Richard (Karen), Julia Bertrand, Catherine Bertrand, Tracy Irvine and Joel (Yanina); his brothers, Sherm (Sheila) and Wm. George (Pat); his sisters, Corinne Kurgan (Stanley, dec.), Justine Ferrel (John) and Patricia Baum (Warren); nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;and many loved nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 12th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Church, 229 W. Yates Street, East Syracuse followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
