Mary Louise Kauhl, 94, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5th, 2021. She was the daughter of Paul and Pauline Kauhl. She was born in Mexia, Texas. She graduated from Solvay High School and then Oswego State College in 1948. She was an elementary school teacher, she taught in Cayuga-Union Springs schools and at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska from 1953 to 1958. The remainder of her career she taught in the Fayetteville Manlius Central Schools until retirement in 1981. She was an active member of the First United Church of East Syracuse serving faithfully on several committees. She was involved in the Church’s United Women’s group and was the first woman to serve on the church session in the early 1960s.
Mary Louise is survived by two nieces, Nancy (Dave) Kauhl-LeRoy of Sherman’s Dale, PA and Kathryn (Mark) Johanson of Verona, NJ; her cousin, Susan (Paul) Spero of East Syracuse; a great niece and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Kauhl.
Private family services will be held at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home followed by burial in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. Memorial Services will be held in the late spring at First United Church of East Syracuse when we can all be together again.
