Mary A. (Quinn) Handlin, 82, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Syracuse on October 11, 1937, she was a resident of East Syracuse since 1962 and was married to Frank Handlin who passed away in 2003. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and attended Nazareth College in Rochester. Mary was employed for nearly 50 years with various businesses in Central New York including Crouse Hinds, GE, Weyerhaeuser Company and two trade associations. She loved music (piano), crafting, walks, reading and crossword puzzles. Mary was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church, where she served on the Bereavement Ministry, and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
Mary is survived by her sister, Patricia Bergfield of Texas; nieces and nephews, Mary Ann (Tom) Osinski of Syracuse, James M. (Jill) Quinn of Rochester, Patrick (Patrice) Quinn of Westvale and Theresa (Bob) Krause of Liverpool, and other nieces and nephews residing out of state.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church, 229 W. Yates Street, East Syracuse. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. A calling hour will be held at the church prior to the Mass from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
