Mark A. Garvey, 58, of Baldwinsville, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Crouse Hospital. Mark was born on November 12, 1962 in Syracuse, New York to Mike and Cindy (Day) Garvey. He graduated from East Syracuse Minoa High School in 1980 and received his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and Master’s Degree from Cortland. Mark taught physical education at Minoa Elementary for 28 years and was a very well- respected and loved teacher and coach within their Softball program, district, and overall community. Mark had a passion for playing drums, an avid sports fan for the New York Yankees, Washington football and SU Sports teams. This Orange fever was inherited from his parents. He was a very proud father who has made an impact on thousands of children, young athletes, and everyone else in his life. He is preceded in death by his father, Mike and mother, Cindy.
Mark is survived by his children, Connor and Jenna Garvey and mother of his children, Jessica Garvey; brother, Jim (Katie) Garvey of Minnesota; sister, Gail Dempsey of East Syracuse;along with amazing cousins, nephews, extended family and friends at Minoa Elementary.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 10 a.m. at Forward Point Church (Palace Theater) 2384 James Street, Syracuse. Burial will follow in South Onondaga Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse.
