Marguerite "Marge” Sweeney, 94, of East Syracuse New York, passed away peacefully among family on Monday, July 5, 2021, at the Centers at St. Camillus. Marguerite was born in Spafford, New York the youngest of 10 children to Vassil Feczko and Julia Spak. Marguerite was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Henry in 2014. Marguerite is survived by her sons, Dennis (Sharon), Thomas (Cyndi), Robert (Barb), Matthew (Carolyn) and Timothy (Patti); daughters, Patricia Loftus (Jim), Susan McKean (Mike), Teresa Wildhack (Henry) and Jeanette; sixteen loving grandchildren and three great granddaughters.
Marge was as devoted to her faith as she was to her family. All her nieces and nephews brought their children to her and she would glow as she calmed a fussy baby in her arms. She was known for her apple pies and always sold out at the church bazaar. Her cinnamon roll had a shelf life of .03 seconds in our house. She golfed, gardened, and walked the neighborhood with her friends. She volunteered at the church and school where her welcomed kindness and compassion made our community a better place.
Marge traveled the United States and Europe, returning to visit family in Slovakia with her husband Henry. Marge loved Lawrence Welk and watching sports, attending many Syracuse University Games and the Super Bowl in 2001.
Marge was a warm, gentle person who cared for everyone she came in contact with. She taught her children to pray and to always choose kindness first. Anyone who knew Marge, felt loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 9 a.m in St. Matthew's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. There will be no calling hours.
