Donald I. Hatch, 91, of East Syracuse, NY, died on June 19, 2021. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years as a radioman, sending and receiving Morse Code messages. He retired from Syracuse China, where he worked as an artist technician, making designs for custom orders. He taught himself to repair watches and all types of mechanical clocks, and did this as a hobby. His artistry in woodcarving left many relatives and friends proud owners of his caricatures and intricate carvings.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Anne; his children, Nancy (Evan), Kevin (Amy), Jim (Sarah) and Meg (Todd); daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Donna; brother, Allen; half-sisters, Laura and Judy; sister-in-law, Sally; brother-in-law, Tom (Chris); cousins, June and Millie; grandchildren, Charlie (Rachel), David, Andrew, Thomas, Alex, Nate and Chris (Deanna); and three great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their utmost thanks and gratitude to the VA Medical Center’s Community Living Center in Syracuse for their exemplary care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the VA Medical Center Community Living Center, 800 Irving Avenue, 8th floor, Syracuse, NY 13210, in memory of Donald I. Hatch.
Services and interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, will be private.
