Betty J. Hickox, 96, was received into her Savior’s arms on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
Betty was born in Marshall, MO on May 7, 1925 to Walter and Mildred Stanley. She was the Christian Education Director at Elmwood Presbyterian Church for many years. As her children were growing up, she was active in the Scout programs. In later years, she and her husband were active participants in the CBI (China-Burma-India) Veterans Association. Her love of sewing, knitting, and quilting produced many gifts for family and friends. She was known by many as “a friend, encourager, and constant resource of wisdom”.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Harry M. Hickox, Jr.; her son, William; daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Hickox; and her siblings, Hank Stanley and Bobbie Klein.
Surviving family members are daughters, Kathryn (Ted) Padgett, Lisa (Richard) Robinson and Lynn (William) Jacques; son, Gary Hickox (Sharon Whitt); daughters-in-law, Diane Hickox and Jessica (Donald) Snyder; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on her birthday, May 7, 2022. Burial will be at the Onondaga Veterans Cemetery next to her husband.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Brookdale Summerfield for their loving care and friendships provided to her over the past 12 years.
