Robert C. Fortunato

January 11, 1956 ~ September 29, 2017 (age 61)
Robert C Fortunato,61, passed away Friday September 29, 2017. He was born in 1956 in Flushing Queens, NY. Robert and his beloved wife Claire lived in Brooklyn and move to Syracuse in 2003.
Surviving are his Wife of 36 years Claire(Ciranni), His Sister Lorraine Coleman of Lutherville MD , His Brother in law Nicholas Ciranni (Marge)Columbus OH. His nieces Lauren Coleman Pipkin, Kyla Ciranni, Ronit Ciranni, Erika Plank Hagan. His nephews David Ciranni, Andrew Hagan, Ryan Pipkin, and Jacob Kronman and all his dear friends near and far.
He loved music. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of rock and roll history (he always won at music Trivia) and that music he loved was the soundtrack of his life.
At home his favorite radio station The Rebel was always on - in the background - and almost never shut off. His house, his rule music always on.
No matter what song came on, Bobby could tell you a story about that artist. He loved to tell stories.
And, of course, he could play, too; everybody knew that, Bobby could play. All those guitars and other instruments he owned never got dusty and have great stories of their own to tell.
He was restless; nothing stopped his motion. He was moving all the time - down in his shop creating the tools he needed, out to drive his beloved car to the gun range to shoot and be with his friends.
He was always thinking of more to do. He was contemplative but not quiet. Anyone meeting him would soon learn his deepest beliefs because he liked to let them be known.
He spoke his mind and his wishes were simple but profound: that we should sit with him around his big dining room table to laugh and love easily with good food and remembrances of great times past looking towards more ahead.
Bobby was a born artist, a creative spirit, inquisitive, a bit of a hell-raiser - rock and roll in its finest form - the truest friend any of us could ask for.
And I like to think he's just next door tuning up with some friends. We will see him again.
Calling hours are Sunday October 8, 2017 from 12 to 5pm at the Delaney-Greabell-Adydan Funeral Home 241 Kinne Street East Syracuse NY 13057.
