Patricia A. Szuba

October 16, 1941 ~ February 19, 2017 (age 75)
The Lord welcomed Patricia A. Szuba, 75, of East Syracuse NY on February 19, 2017. Our mother was born on October 16, 1941 to the late Charles and Lillian Boniewicz in East Syracuse NY. Mom is reunited with her loving husband of 47 years, John J. Szuba and two children, John J. Szuba Jr. and Brenda Szuba-Naum.
Mom's love for her family was endless. She lives on through her children and grandchildren; daughter Denise (Michael) McGinley of Kirkville; sons James Szuba of East Syracuse and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Szuba of Scarsdale; grandchildren James, Brigid, Jillian, Maureen, Gia and Mila. Her surviving siblings, Charles Jr. (Joyce) Boniewicz, Michael (Judy) Boniewicz, Margaret Drapikowski and Deborah (Frank Sr.) Stirpe, will cherish the memories of our family and holiday celebrations. Her attention to detail and perfection in any gathering she hosted, affectionately gave her the nickname "Nutsy".
Mom graduated from East Syracuse High School, class of 1959, where she was voted "Most Witty" and where she met her husband, John. For many years, she worked as a teacher's aide for the East Syracuse Minoa School District and as a sales associate at the Addis Company. Mom's greatest joy was creating a warm and loving home for her husband, children and later in life, where she helped raise her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, traveling, shopping, scrapbooking, collecting dolls and loved the color purple.
All who knew our mother, were touched by her compassion and kindness. She requested to honor her memory through acts of kindness to others. Mom will be greatly missed, but her family and friends are comforted knowing she found eternal peace with her family in heaven.
Due to building repairs at St. Matthew's Church, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 AM on Friday, February 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minoa. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt and a celebration of Mom's life will be immediately following as she planned.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to St. Matthew's Church 229 W. Yates St. East Syracuse, NY 13057, where she was an active parishioner for over 70 years.
