Gerald Jerry Horton

December 31, 1942 ~ July 8, 2016 (age 73)
Gerald "Jerry" Horton, 73, passed away Friday, July 8th. He was a life-long resident of CNY and graduated from SU. Jerry served five years with the U.S. Army including a tour in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He then served in various
managerial positions in the Logistics Dept. at Carrier-United Technologies for over
30 years. He retired in 2000.
Jerry volunteered at Contact Community Services for over 42 years, and was a
long-time active member of The First United Church of East Syracuse. He loved
history. He wrote several articles that were published in local Historical Journals
and made presentations at various libraries and historical groups in the area. His
cabin in the Adirondacks was his refuge. He loved being there surrounded by family
and friends, writing his history articles or reading on the porch.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda, his daughter, Wendy, and his son,
Darren. He is also survived by a brother James (Sharlyn), a brother-in-law William
(Lisa) Gilbert, five nieces and nephews, and several grandnephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 16, at the First United Church of East Syracuse 823 Franklin Park Dr. A calling hour will be held 10 to 11 am prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Church of East
Syracuse, Contact Community Services, or the Morehouse Lake Club.
