Walter Eugene Lansing, 87, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully at his home, with his family by his side. He was born February 21, 1932 in Syracuse, the son of Walter and Muriel Powers Lansing. He was an Eagle Scout and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Walter was a graduate of East Syracuse High School and Syracuse University. For over 60 years, Mr. Lansing was a self-employed Insurance Agent. He was a member and then chairman of the Town of DeWitt Zoning Board of Appeals for 27 years, was a member of Memorial Lodge #648 F & AM and was a life member of the First United Church of East Syracuse. He enjoyed sharing his time at his camp on Oneida Lake with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Arbogast Lansing; four children, Linda (Jeff) Gribble, David (Vicky) Lansing, Donna Metz and Douglas (Eirinn Beazley) Lansing; eleven grandchildren; and one great grandson. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, M. Betty Christen.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Collamer Cemetery.
