Richard G. Bohland, 86, of East Syracuse, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018.
He was born March 13, 1932, in Jamesville on his maternal grandparents, Imre and Irene (Fedor) Kohut’s farm, and was the son of the late George and Margaret (Kohut) Bohland. He was a graduate of East Syracuse High School and LeMoyne College. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was attached to the 11th Airborne Division (Hell’s Angels). He was an accomplished pianist and a member of St. Matthew’s Church. A former member of the American Institute of Banking, he was affiliated with Lincoln National Bank & Trust Co. and Metropolitan National, lastly as an auditor, retiring in 1979.
A 50 year member and founder of the American Collie Club of CNY, he enjoyed traveling and judging dog shows.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, June (Kelley) Bohland; brother, William G. Bohland; and sister, Margaret Turner.
He is survived by four children, Kelley, Sheila, Norman and Jody; two grandsons, Cody and Justin; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 pm at St. Matthew’s Church, corner of Kinne and W. Yates Streets, East Syracuse. His Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9 am at the church. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
