Joan C. Johnson, 83, of East Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Born in Queens, New York, she was a graduate of Bayshore High School and after completing high school she entered the United States Air Force. She retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb. She was a member of the Camden and East Syracuse American Legion and a member of the US Trotting Association. Her greatest passion was being an owner/breeder of harness race horses and was a New York Yankee fan and an avid Syracuse fan. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Johnson, Sr. and her son, Thomas Johnson, Jr.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Johnson; her son, Eric Johnson (Donna Messenger); grandchildren, Christania (Matt) Vaughn, Charlene Bertollini (Zach Rathburn), Cherie (Andrew) Watts, Gordon Tupper, III, Robert DeWolfe and Nathan Johnson; four great granddaughters; and several close neighbors.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse. Graveside Services will follow at 11 a.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
