Jean Elaine (Osmun) Cusyk, 85, departed her earthly life on Sunday, September 9, 2018 to join her husband of 59 years, Walter Cusyk and their seven infants. Born and educated in Oswego, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Kiernan) Osmun. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Francis, William and James. She worked for Acme Markets until she married and raised a family of six children. A resident of East Syracuse for 64 years, she was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Church. She was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers in the parish; Vice President of the Mother’s Club, and a 40 plus year member of the Capella Choir and the Bereavement Choir. Jean loved the Rosary and the Blessed Mother. She was a member of the Blue Army, Holy Angel Cell and led the parish in the Fatima Rosary Rally every October. She was a Child of Mary, a Marian Helper and a benefactor of EWTN.
Jean is survived by four sons, John (Nancy), Joseph (Elizabeth), James (Cindy) and Christopher; two daughters, Theresa Metzcus and Michelle Michlovitch; six grandsons, Brian, Daniel, Benjamin (Sarah), Robert J., Brandon and Derek; one granddaughter, Stephanie; and a great granddaughter, Gabrielle.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 am from Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home and 11 am from St. Matthew’s Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse.
