Gary F. Diriwachter

August 2, 2018

Gary F. Diriwachter, age 56, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018 after a courageous battle from prostate cancer. Born on November 20, 1961 to Frederick and Jean (Duelsler) Diriwachter. He was raised in East Syracuse, NY, graduating from East Syracuse High School. He continued his studies at Central City Business Institute earning an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 1987. Gary was a lab technician for Carrier Corp for 34 years. He was a long-time resident of Hastings, NY, where he could be known for having one of the best groomed lawns in the neighborhood.  Gary had a love and passion for the great outdoors.His favorite places to be were camping on Indian Lake in the Adirondacks or spending time with friends at the Mad River Club. He was a member of the club for over 30 years. He was a very active man doing anything from golfing with friends, fishing, hunting, riding snowmobiles & ATV’s, hiking the great Adirondack mountains, canoeing the Fulton Chain, and bicycling for endless miles. Gary is predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Jean (Duesler) Diriwachter.

Gary is survived by his wife, Debby (Kneer) Diriwachter; step-daughter, Jessica Brooks; grandchildren, Mia and Anthony Cheston; brother, Bruce (Carla); and uncles, aunts, several cousins, nieces & nephews, Megan (Chris) Perrault, Joel (Rickie Sue) Diriwachter, Ryan, Savannah and Cameron Kneer, great nieces and nephews Rylan and Erik. 

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday August 11th, 2018 at Jake’s Grub & Grog, 7 East River Rd Central Square, New York 13036.  Burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name may be made to Patient Airlift Services (PALS) 7110 Republic Airport, Suite 202, Farmingdale, NY 11735 and Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Syracuse, NY .  He was passionate about organ donation, so please consider increasing your awareness.
