Gary Devendorf, 68, of East Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, November 7th, 2019 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center in Syracuse surrounded by his family. Gary graduated in 1969 from East Syracuse Minoa High School. He served as a sergeant in the US Air Force from 1969-1972. He married his wife Joanie on July 2nd, 1977. He was a devoted employee of Aramatic Refreshments for 32 years. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, softball, bowling and spending time with his family. He was a devoted fan to his Yankees, Giants and SU. He also enjoyed tinkering with things in the garage and could fix ANYTHING we brought to him. He was predeceased by his mother Eunice Gelineau and brother Jim Devendorf.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan (Wisniewski) Devendorf; his son, Shane (Summer-Lea) Rivito; his daughter Jessica Devendorf; four grandchildren,Breonna Falso, Cierra Gorman, Alex Devendorf and Carmen Rivito; two great- grandchildren, Emilia Falso and Dominick Falso; sisters Cheryl (Steve) Atkinson and Holly (Ted) Joyal; brother, Dennis Devendorf and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday 9:30 a.m. at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Matthews Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will follow at the Cremation Center at Woodlawn Cemetery. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minoa. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse.
